Last week we discussed imaging technique for IUD placement and the importance of a complete sagittal and coronal sweep of the uterus. This week we will review a perforated IUD. You can see that it is positioned high in the fundus however it perforates the endometrium and a segment is clearly identified in the myometrium. Take a look at the cine clip here and you can clearly see the endometrial canal separate from the IUD. Enjoy!
Perforated IUDs are discussed by Julie Gaston (BS, RVT, RDMS) in this segment from the Mint Medical Education Classroom.
