Endometrial Polyp: A case study review
This week, Julie reviews an endovaginal ultrasound exam for post menopausal bleeding. The exam reveals a thickened endometrium with a focal area of increased echogenicity suggestive of a polyp. This patient was scheduled for a sonohysterogram on the same day. Cine clips and still images depict a large fundal polyp with a feeding vessel. Incidentally there is also a small fibroid noted in the mid portion of the uterus.
This case study reveals the importance of a sonohysterogram and the subtle nature of endometrial polyps. The initial measurement of the endometrium was the sign for further investigation.
Endometrial Polyps are discussed by Julie Gaston (BS, RDMS, RVT) in this segment from the Mint Medical Education Case Study Library.
