Backing Material and Bandwidth
Take a listen to a sample of Dr. Traci Fox’s physics review lecture. In this chapter of the course, she is reviewing the transducer construction and how each piece functions. This sampling includes a discussion of the damping material. This material is critical in reducing the “ringing” of the active element during pulse wave imaging which decreases the length of the pulse leading to an increase in axial resolution. She also discusses what we mean by a broadband transducer and why we have a range of frequencies in pulse wave imaging.
