88 year old Caucasian Female
Palpable cord in the right lower extremity.
Right lower extremity venous duplex.
Right great saphenous vein is not compressible from proximal calf
to saphenofemoral junction, with partial extension of thrombus into the
common femoral vein identified.

Patient started on Lovenox. Advised to use warm compresses as needed and keep leg
elevated. Ultrasound 1 month later showed retraction of thrombus into the great saphenous vein at the proximal thigh, with saphenous reflux obtained throughout. Patient is symptom free and will continue with conservative treatment of daily
exercise, compression hose and leg elevation.
